My artistic practice is driven by a spiritual perspective that all of life is profoundly interconnected. In my work, I explore themes centered around origins, environment, and impermanence. This body of work is inspired by water’s ability to transform states and nourish myriad forms of life. I am drawn to weaving for its tactile and metaphorical qualities. With sustainability as a priority, I thoughtfully source materials with respect to growing and labor practices, and hand-dye select fibers in an organic fermented indigo vat that I tend. With Indigo, I produce a series of blue hues, which in this work, describes the dynamism and nuanced expressions of water. I wove this body of work on a handmade four-harness floor loom utilizing traditional Inlay techniques. This series is in preparation for an upcoming public installation alongside our local river, becoming a momentary part of the landscape that I seek to honor.
